Introduction to clay sculpture: Magic Mushrooms

Escape into a magical world.

Disconnect, slow down and sculpt a magical world of mushrooms, gnomes and woodland wonders. This 2-week class (2 x 2-hour sessions over 2 consecutive weeks) is a chance to leave the ‘real’ world behind, take your time and create something magical.

Course outline.

  • In week 1 we will hand-build and sculpt your scene. Your teacher will show you various hand-building and texturing techniques before you create your sculpture.

  • Week 2 will focus on refining your piece and decorating with underglazes.

Your piece will be glazed and fired, ready to be picked up in 3-4 weeks.

Skill level: Beginner to intermediate.

This is a beginner class, accessible to people with no previous experience, and those who’ve dabbled before. It would be best if you were 13+ to attend this class (minors can come but must be accompanied by an adult).

Class length: 2 x 2hr sessions. Price: $220pp.

Get dressed for success.

Please wear closed shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy and think about keeping long hair out of the way. Otherwise, just bring your desire to make and escape!

The boring bits.

Unfortunately, the kiln gods are a capricious bunch and while we do our best to minimise the possibility, breakages may happen during firing. We cannot offer refunds for damaged items.

Getting there.

​We’re at 9 Addison Rd in Marrickville, opposite The Vic, right near the intersection of Enmore Rd and seconds from Enmore Park.

Dare to drive? There is ample parking along either side of Enmore Park, on Llewellyn St or Victoria Rd. There are also spaces along Addison Rd or any of the nearby side streets.

Save the world, one bus trip at a time. Routes 355, 423, 426, 428, 430 all stop close by - alight at Enmore Park and pop around the corner.
