Hand-building pottery class: Make your own mug

Hand-make a vessel for your morning ritual.

What you’ll make.

Whether you’re a total newbie or just looking for a fun way to unwind, this is your chance to experience the zen-like joy of hand-building—and sipping your morning coffee from a mug you made yourself! Nestled in our gorgeous studio just steps from Enmore Park, we’ll guide you through creating a range of mug styles and teach you cool textural tricks to make your mug design pop with personality. By the end, you’ll walk away with a stunning mug that’s 100% you.

What you’ll learn.

Your expert teacher (10+ years) will walk you through the coiling technique, how to attach handles like a pro, and even how to add 3D decorations that’ll make your mug the envy of all your friends. Plus, you’ll get hands-on with sculpting tools to create unique textures and patterns. Want to add some colour? Go wild with underglaze paints and make your mug truly unforgettable.

With class sizes capped at just eight people, you’ll get plenty of one-on-one attention from your tutor, who’s not only a skilled ceramicist, but a pro at making learning fun and stress-free.

And here’s the cherry on top: after a blissful afternoon of creating, you can stroll across the road to The Vic on the Park, one of Marrickville’s most iconic pubs. Let’s get muddy and make something amazing! 🎨☕

Get dressed for success.

Wear something that’s easy to clean, or that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Covered shoes are ideal and think about keeping long hair out of the way.

The boring bits.

Unfortunately, the kiln gods are a capricious bunch and while we do our best to minimise the possibility, breakages may happen during firing. We cannot offer refunds for damaged items.

Getting there.

We’re at 9 Addison Rd in Marrickville, opposite The Vic, right near the intersection of Enmore Rd and seconds from Enmore Park.

Dare to drive? There is ample parking along either side of Enmore Park, on Llewellyn St or Victoria Rd. There are also spaces along Addison Rd or any of the nearby side streets.

Save the world, one bus trip at a time. Routes 355, 423, 426, 428, 430 all stop close by - alight at Enmore Park and pop around the corner.
